On the Road
On the Road is designed as a fun, Road- movie style project based on young people's experiences with transport in London (bus, tube, car and bicycle). It is a devised piece of theatre which will be developed over a course of six weeks and performed at the King's Head in the lunch- time slot (12noon) on Tuesday 11th December 2007.
In the first week, the company will learn about the King's Head Theatre and get to know each other through various games and exercises. We will discuss the project, the story lines and characters. The company will be given audition sides to prepare for the following week. All the following workshops will begin with a Voice and Movement Warm- Up, followed by collaborative story- line devising. We will focus on particular transport story/ vehicle each week. We will also look at set and lighting design and work closely with the Stage Manager. The final workshop will be our Technical and Dress Rehearsal.
The first On the Road workshop will take place on Sunday 4th November at 10am. All the following workshops will take place on Sunday mornings, 10am- 12noon. The cost of the full 6- part series of 2- hour workshops and performance is £30 per student. However, the King's Head will waive this fee if the participant and/or school are unable to afford the fee.
