The King’s Head Theatre Productions Ltd. and
Occam’s Razor Theatre Company are working in partnership to create an
innovative community theatre project that explores the rich heritage of Upper
Street and the illustrious legacy of The King’s Head Theatre and Pub.
‘On Our Street’ is a multi-sensory performance that explores Islington’s rich
heritage through drama, song and dance. Leading the audience on a journey, the
piece uncovers hidden stories that examine the past, present and future of the
area and the famous Theatre and Pub, concluding with a screening of the
documentary “A Maverick in London”, telling the story of the first 35 years of
the King’s Head under the visionary stewardship of Dan Crawford. The cast will
be made up of six professional actors/musicians and 15 community volunteers who
will undertake research and work with a local historian to extrapolate
intriguing stories from the street and theatre’s past.
Generously funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, the production will be featured
as part of the Story of London Festival 2010, organised by the Mayor, which
celebrates the world-class heritage and culture on offer across the city and
aims to encourage audiences to engage and share in its story. Meeting Point
Islington Green, N1. Free and suitable for all ages.
