Peter Pan

PETER PAN SCHOOLS PROGRAMME:
4 PART WORKSHOPS

Overview

The aim of this series of four 1 hour workshops with school pupils is to devise a short (20-30 minutes) version of Peter Pan to perform to parents/teachers and friends.

This will complement the production of Peter Pan at the King’s Head and encourage greater interest from local schools, and in particular provide outreach to disadvantaged schools who would not otherwise take part in or visit the theatre.

The workshops would ideally take place after school in a communal building of some kind (sports hall, community hall).

Education

These workshops would tie in with Drama, English and Citizenship syllabuses and encourage greater understanding of play texts, text in performance and hopefully will lead to greater confidence in the classroom.

Content

The emphasis in the workshops will be on having fun, and on encouraging the pupils to give everything that they can, and positively supporting anything they do come up with.

Pupils are encouraged to bring music, dance or any script ideas they have into the workshop to make sure that the performance they come up with fits them like a glove and is as far from being a scripted ‘rehearsed’ play as possible.

At the same time every sessions start with some games, some fun vocal workshops and, as we progress, some basic character workshops to give the performance the benefit of some establish theatre techniques.
