After Amber

Widsith Rehearsed Readings

After Amber
by James Woolf

Monday 29th October 2007

What on earth is Amber doing in Gareth's house three years after they acrimoniously split? What is her real agenda, other than to sift through the embers of their relationship and its damaging finale? Does she want a cut of his new-found wealth? Or to rekindle their intimacy? And where does Gareth's new partner Dee figure in all of this? At times comic, at times painful, this finely nuanced drama will strike a chord with anyone who has struggled with their artistic career whilst trying to hold down a relationship.

James Woolf has written extensively for both theatre and radio. His most recent work includes House on the Promontory (Arcola) and Chicken and Mushroom Pie and Chips, (King’s Head). He co-wrote the musical City Lights, which was showcased at the Old Vic Theatre. After Amber has been developed with support from Widsith. The company nurtures emerging talent by offering playwrights practical support, including feedback on scripts and workshops.
